— Two markets got a clean bill of health from the state after being the subject of complaints.

Abdullah Halal Market and the Broadway Live Poultry Market in Schenectady were inspected last week by the state Department of Agriculture and Markets. The agency's Animal Industry Division found satisfactory sanitation at both sites.

Agency spokesman Joe Morrissey said record-keeping deficiencies were found at Broadway Live Poultry Market. "We are working with them to make certain that corrective action is being taken and records are kept up to date moving forward," he added.

The Food Safety and Inspection Division inspected both facilities and found no unusual circumstances in the live bird areas. Morrissey said there was adequate space for the caged birds and ample food and water were provided.

"We will continue to monitor both facilities on a quarterly basis, as we do routinely," Morrissey said.
