— Colonie police are asking for the public’s help after receiving a report that a man asked two children to get into his car.

The suspicious incident happened Monday at about 1 p.m. on Laura Drive in Latham where two children, a boy, 8, and girl, 5, reported that a vehicle pulled up and a male driver asked them to get inside his car.

The children responded by running into their house and telling their mother, who then called police.

Officers did not find the vehicle, but a witness reported seeing a similar car leave the area and head west on Troy-Schenectady Road.

The vehicle is described as a newer model, white, four-door Toyota Camry. It had a New York license plate, white with blue letters. The Camry symbol on the rear was gold.

The driver was described as a white male, in his 40s, with a black beard and moustache. He wore what appeared to be a top hat and black framed glasses with orange lenses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
