This holiday season, The Daily Gazette is asking schoolchildren throughout the region to tell us, in their own words, what they love most about how their town celebrates this very special time of year.

We’ll review the essays and include some of the best in our special Celebrate holiday section, which we will publish Nov. 28.

There will also be $50 prizes for winners, determined by newsroom staff, in two categories (grades 3-7 and grades 8-12).

Please make sure your essay is clearly labeled with your complete name and address, along with your grade and phone number.

We aren’t putting a limit on the number of words in the essay, but students should know that editors love writing that is clear and succinct.

Entries should be mailed to: Christmas Essay Contest, The Daily Gazette, 2345 Maxon Road Extension, Schenectady, NY 12301.
