An effort to get sidewalks for Glenville’s town center area may go more smoothly now as officials are attempting to form a district to build them. Businesses in the district would be assessed for the cost of the sidewalks. The town has had a long-sought goal of putting in sidewalks in the area of Glenridge Road and Route 50. Why aren't the costs of sidewalks included in the roadway budgets? You don't have special highway taxing districts, why so for sidewalks, which are the pedestrians' highways?

Besides, it's the roads and the cars on them that make sidewalks necessary. Just build them and spread the cost the same as you do for the roads.
