— Police arrested a 26-year-old Albany man Friday on charges that he stole more than $95,000 dollars while working as an employee for Trustco Bank.

Detectives arrested Jeffrey Roscoe of 794 Lancaster St. at the South Station. He was charged with second-degree grand larceny and first-degree falsifying business records.

Roscoe, who was the head teller at the 415 Whitehall Road branch, allegedly stole $95,454 between Feb. 1, 2010 and Dec. 15, 2011.

He is alleged to have made several false transactions over a period of time in order to withdraw money for himself. Once he withdrew the money he would then cancel the transaction to cover it up until an internal audit caught the scheme, police said.

The money was stolen directly from the bank and at no point were any of the customers’ personal accounts affected, police said.

Roscoe became a suspect after an internal audit in December 2011 turned up the discrepancy in his accounting. He was immediately suspended pending an internal and criminal investigation.

He was arraigned Friday in City Criminal Court and sent to the Albany County Jail on $15,000 bail.
