— Union won its first ECAC Hockey tournament title with a 3-1 win over Harvard on Saturday at Boardwalk Hall.

The Dutchmen, the top seed in the tournament, are headed to the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. They will be a No. 1 regional seed, and possible an overall No. 2 seed. It appears they will be facing Western Michigan in the East Regional semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday in Bridgeport, Conn.

The 16-team NCAA tournament field will be announced at noon Sunday on ESPNU.

Just over 30 seconds after Alex Killorn gave Harvard a 1-0 lead early in the third period, Jeremy Welsh scored his 25th goal of the season to tie it. Daniel Carr gave Union the lead midway through the third when he put home the rebound of a Shayne Gostisbehere shot.

Josh Jooris' empty-net goal sealed the deal for Union, which has been playing Division I hockey for 21 years.
