I just finished reading the new economic-impact study on casino gambling in New York state, commissioned by the casinos themselves, and I can testify that if I hadn’t already read a few dozen similar studies over the years I would be completely blown away. Disposable or discretionary income is finite. If New Yorkers begin to use other money to gamble than bills don't get paid, or people don't eat. Unless the money flows in from out of state the casino will actually hurt the NY economy. It is economics 101 and the governor is failing!

It is expected that the gaming industry would promote the expansion of gambling - it is expected that our legislature in Albany would consider it seriously since the funds generated would be a feather in their collective caps without the social costs identified with them - a politician's dream, particularly at election time

Perhaps we should prohibit: alcohol again-No Drunks.
Every One drive at 35 mph-No more fatal accidents
Sugar is illegal
No smoking anywhere
No sex-AIDs/HIV
No shopping on Sunday
No staying up after 9pm
We need more people to tell us what to do and what not to do!
