Session set to plan Spa tree planting
SARATOGA SPRINGS Sustainable Saratoga is holding a community meeting on planning for tree planting in the city from 7 to 9 tonight in the H. Dutcher Room of Saratoga Springs Public Library, 49 Henry St.
The meeting will start with a brief introduction about the current tree survey being conducted in the city. Those attending will then break up in groups and take short, assigned routes in the city’s downtown core to observe trees or the lack of trees.
The groups will reconvene in the library to discuss what they learned about the downtown trees and how the next wave of new tree plantings could enhance the city.
Thomas Denny, a retired Skidmore College professor and urban forestry project manager for Sustainable Saratoga, said he would like to see a larger cross section of the city’s residents involved in the tree planning program.
