SCCC expanding in Center City

Schenectady County Community College is taking over more of Center City. The Board of Trustees on Monday approved entering into a new lease with the Galesi Group for an additional 11,000 square feet of space on top of the 20,000 square feet the college has already been leasing. With most students now able to swipe their student ID to ride CDTA buses, the college should not be considering any more development of parking space, but instead should start discouraging parking, but students and staff.

The College charges $20 a year for a small locker, yet parking is free. The locker requires changing the lock once a year, the parking space needs continuous plowing, striping, removal of mud, repaving every few years. Do these pricing arrangements make any sense?
