Amsterdam motorcyclist killed after striking parked vehicle

— A 21-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday morning after striking a parked vehicle on Waite Road in the town of Amsterdam, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.

Robert M. Bower, of 229 Waite Road, was pronounced dead at the scene by Montgomery County Coroner Joseph Riley. He was taken to St. Mary's Healthcare in Amsterdam for an autopsy.

Authorities said Bower suffered fatal injuries in the accident when his 2008 Suzuki motorcycle crossed the roadway and struck a parked vehicle. Police said he was speeding at the time of the accident, which occurred at approximately 2 a.m.
