New library addition opens doors in Schenectady (with photo gallery)

6,700-square-foot wing features children’s section

Schenectady County officials were joined by members of the Schenectady County Public Library Board of Trustees, Friends of the Library, and major donors for the official grand opening of the new Children’s Wing at the Central Library Branch on Monday. Schenectady County children now have a wing in the Public Library’s Central Branch dedicated just for them. The 6,700-square-foot addition was opened Monday in a ceremony at which members of the Schenectady County Public Library Board of Trustees, the Friends of the Library, major donors and Schenectady County officials were present. The wing has an open, warm and playful feeling, which architects J.T. Pollard and Mike Gamache said was their goal when they designed it. ...
