— Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, Scotia police were notified that a man attempted to lure a 10-year-old girl into his car by offering her candy. The girl, who was riding her scooter on Cartwheel Drive in the village, ran home.

The man, who is believed to be white and in his 40s, was driving a green four-door sedan with rust around the wheel wells and a white license plate. On Saturday, the police announced that the suspect had short black hair.

The investigation into this incident uncovered a potentially similar situation two weeks ago in the same neighborhood. On Saturday, though, police announced that the earlier event was not connected or even suspicious. They determined that the young girl in that case was simply asked if she had seen a lost puppy and was not actually invited into a car to see a puppy.

Anyone with information on Friday's incident is encouraged to call Scotia police at 384-2244.
