SCHENECTADY — Schenectady firefighters, with assistance from Scotia firefighters, battled a blaze this morning at the former Luigi's Restaurant at 1125 Barrett St. in the downtown area of the city.

The building was vacant, according to officials. There appeared to be no injuries.

The call came in at about 4:15 a.m. Luigi's went out of business several years ago. It is situated one block east of North Jay Street and a few blocks north of Union Street.
