— A child was left in a car Monday afternoon but was rescued before suffering ill effects, police said.

Officers were called at 2:02 p.m. and informed that a child had been left unattended in the Kohl’s Plaza on Central Avenue. The vehicle’s windows were down far enough that rescuers could reach inside and remove the child, police said.

At the time, the outside temperature was 81 degrees, police said.

Officers arrested the child’s mother, Jodi G. Hebert, 43, of Albany. They said she was in a store nearby and had left the child alone for about 10 minutes.

Hebert was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, both misdemeanors.

She was released on her own recognizance.

I wouldn't leave my dog in a hot car for any length of time, much less my precious offspring.
