Nice timing! Just as Schenectady council members are mulling the need or non-need to supply the Police Department’s evidence technicians with Chevy Tahoes that they can take home with them as personal vehicles, out comes the list of the city’s top-paid employees for the year past, and lo, the three evidence techs are among the top 10. They are: • John Ericson (No. 1): $149,429 • Tom Adach (No. 8): $127,804 • Jeremy Pace (No. 9): $125,202 There ...

Thank you Carl Strock for exposing and writing all you are allowed to in the systematically, continual, abuse of the Schenectady Taxpayer at the hands of selfish, public servants that complain when they receive $150,000, unlimited sick time, full health insurance, free gas, maintenance, live in Malta and demand Tahoes from an severely abused, overtaxed, people that have to listen to such nonsense. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. You keep feeding sugar to a child their teeth will rot. And they keep crying for more. How anyone in the world can support such abusive nonsense must be a nutcase...period.

t seems to me that this article is more about what the officers are making rather than their need for a certain type of vehicle. Mr Strock should stop faning the fire and look at both issues seperately. Overtime costs have been an issue throughout the years and I'm sure the administrationi is well aware of the cost of providing these services. They do have budget to live within for both overtime and euipment purchases As for the vehicles they are looking to aquire, there too I'm sure they, the Commissioner and his staff, have looked at the vehicles currently in use and those available through the state contract and feel that a Chevrolet Tahoe would best fit the needs of these officers. Lets stop Monday morning quarterbacking and let the administration do its job.

"and, what with putting their lives on the line and all, why shouldn’t they get a Chevy Tahoe to take home?"

Pace was shot by a murder suspect last year and the gazette seems to act like officers putting their lives on the line is a joke.

Riggi is a fool if he thinks getting the needed equipment to run a professional police department is "sweetening the pot" for one officer, I highly doubt Ericson put in the request for the fleet vehicles. That statement shows his fixation on one cops overtime and how he absentmindedly forgot the department is made up of 100s of people. Im sure that if an evidence technician was needed to be paid over time to solve a crime that effected him or his family at 2am he would see its the criminals costing the city not the crime fighters.

Strock is nothing more than getting folks interests peaked so the Daily Trash rag can sell more papers. Sweeten his deal with the local rag. Funny always the first media source to bash cops and firefighters but never give credit where credit is due! Maybe Strock should put down his pen and holster up a gun or strap on an air tank like the firemen and cops do. Lets see how long he would survive. Have a feeling he would be run out of the jungle by his stupid looking bow tie!!!

schenectadyscott and the rest of you morons that keep blasting the SPD officers need to realize that the problems are at the top. Four asst chiefs making a half million a year plus a chief and a commissioner.

The men and women on the streets are putting their lives on the line every day. Everytime they arrest someone now they get sued by the dirtbgs that they arrested. There are multiple shots fired calls every day. Maybe you should quit complaining about the SPD because without them you don't have a chance in Schenectady anymore.

wmarincic-"The men and women on the streets are putting their lives on the line every day. Every time they arrest someone now they get sued by the dirtbags that they arrested. There are multiple shots fired calls every day. Maybe you should quit complaining about the SPD because without them you don't have a chance in Schenectady anymore." The men and women on the streets....could stop abusing us..this is not complaining..I am a moron only because I continue to live here and pay there way instead of moving to Saratoga County like they do..What the officers who are not at the "Top" could do is be strong and stand up for what is right and not the corruption they promote. What they could do is...the right thing and stop a feeling of entitlement....just like all the "Officers on the Street" that have been fired for abusing the taxpayers by breaking the law...Even the "so called good cops" are bad..when they don't speak up against the bad ones and allow it to continue. If falsehood and lies are worth free vehicles, free gas, free insurance, abuse of power, $150,000/year salaries, full benefits..than that is what you have to live with...if it is worth living your life in corruption and lies to protect your self preservation with disregard to those paying your way in life..it makes them no different than the "Criminal Dirtbags" that you say sue them..and any time an officer is accused of wrong doing...they do the same..they Sue and receive their pension unless they get the felony charged against them..How can you still stand up for these criminal and immoral actions that our protectors are giving us..the are abusive bullies and you support their actions with your justifications of allowing these abuses of power that these public servants are advocating. Stop bullying and making threats...and when people run out of things to say..they always attack Carl Strock's Tie..always.Thank you Judy Patrick for your comments. I agree. When dialog turns to name calling and threats...it shows the intelligence you are dealing with...Laying there lives on the line...when is the last time an officer had been killed in the line of duty protecting Schenectady.

Schenectady Scott show some respect, April 11 2004 was the last death with others suffering countless instances of serious injury since.

Pace was shot just last year and is lucky to be living. Also in this instance as reported in the gazette he and the other officer that was shot did not return fire in an effort to protect innocent people that were in the area yet you still doubt the professional nature and restraint shown buy these officers.

Also as reported by the gazette that shooter was found guilty of attempted murder for trying to kill these cops.

He ran into a pole wrecklessly driving at high speeds. He would still be alive if he took the corner safely...He was not shot at...How many officers have been killed by a bullet...You want to go round and round..I have great respect for people who are respectful. Those allowing the abusive bullying action of demands from people who know what job they are taking with the risks involved. If they are risking their lives and it is so dangerous, they would not allow their children, brothers, cousins to take on these dangerous jobs. Again how many have died by a bullet. You can not justify the bullying tactics and the allowance of corruption within the ranks to abuse the taxpayers they are serving. They are Public Servants...not as they are in the duty of self serving by the justification of "Laying There Lives on the Line". You can not have a police union running the taxes up so they can abuse the citizens. I don't care how many are put in the line of fire...They are abusing the people...Plain and simple...How can you argue in favor of this?...If you use this logic than all our Troops should be paid well over $150,000 a year and given lifetime pensions at the ripe old age of 42 of half that $150.000 a year till they die and take on other positions on the public's dime...You can not sustain this kind of justification...I don't care who you are...No one is worth these perks and salaries in the Public Sector. Again how can you support this, unless you make so much money off of the Public's pocket you don't care and it does not effect you. Is there a moral conscious that you sell your soul to evil and corruption to justify it..

During the late evening of February 12, 1979, Patrolman Koenige responded to a domestic trouble call at a home on Baker Avenue. When officers arrived at the address, they learned that shots had been fired from the upstairs flat of the two-family home. Ptl. Koenige was on the stairwell leading to the 2nd floor when, hidden from view on the landing above him, a distraught young man pulled the trigger of a loaded rifle. The bullet ricocheted off the wall striking Ptl. Koenige in the neck and knocking him down the stairs. When the gunman saw that he had shot an officer, he turned the rifle on himself and took his own life.

My close friend was 1st through the door when the bullet went past his head striking Officer Pace, thank God he is still with us, BTW his Police K9 partners name is Koenige. Just because a cop has not been murdered in Schenectady lately does not mean they do not risk their lives.

Finally you do not know that Vert was speeding when he lost his life. It figures you would disparage the name of a police officer killed in the line of duty.
My apoligies Judy.

No I work in the private sector and moved out of my house in Schdy because of two shooting in one month in front of my house. So now I have two mortgages because of a dirtbag absantee landlord renting to drug dealers. I know what these cops go through to do their job. If you want to get mad, get mad at the usless chiefs and asst. chiefs that are getting paid 150k plus a year to do nothing, not the cops on the street.

SchenectadyScott the voice of Vince Riggi------AKA Riggi's son this shows how a City Council member and his family support city employees and the police department. No respect for an officer who lost his life responding to a call for service and protecting residents of the city and this is how you bash his memory
Shame on you and your father Vince Riggi

schenectadyscott says things like above "I don't care how many are put in the line of fire" I can only guess that he learned ignorance like that from his dad.
