— A 14-year-old boy likely will be charged as an adult in connection with the alleged rape and sexual assault of a preteen, and police say more possible victims have come forward.

The Stillwater-area teen is accused of raping one child by force and performing other sex acts forcibly.

He is charged with one count of first-degree forcible rape and two counts of first-degree criminal sexual act, all violent felonies, said town police Sgt. Ray Cordani.

The boy’s name has not been released.

Cordani said he got a report several weeks ago about a sexual assault of a child younger than 11, and has found out about several other victims since then, all 14 years old or younger.

“The investigation is still very active,” he said. “All of the victims are from the general Saratoga County area.”

The charges against the teen are Class B felonies, just one notch below murder, which is a Class A felony.

Also, forcible rape is one of only a handful of cases in which a minor can be charged as an adult.

So the case is unusual and chilling, Cordani said.

“This is quite disturbing to me as a 19-year veteran.”
