Shenendehowa had four champions from seven finalists Friday in defending its team title at the Spencerport Tournament.

Nick Kelley won one of the two Most Outstanding Wrestler awards after winning the 138-pound title by pinning Lancaster’s Eric Lewandowski in 3:20. Kelley was one of seven Plainsmen that also finished first in Thursday’s round-robin tourney, a change in format brought on when some teams were not able to travel.

David Almaviva (145), Zach Joseph (152) and Ali Hashimee (170) also won titles, with Kevin Parker (120), Justin Noble (182) and Jesse Porter (132) also reaching the finals.

Almaviva opened the final round with an 8-2 win over Lockport’s Jose Pagan at 145 pounds. Almaviva pinned all three of his opponents in Thursday’s round-robin competition.

Joseph followed with a 6-2 win over Nate Schwab of Clarence at 152, and Hashimee — who also pinned his way through the round-robin — pinned Greg Kleinsmith of Johnson City in the 170-pound final.

Parker was 3-0 Thursday, and Noble was 3-1, losing to Egenlauf.

Parker, the second seed, was pinned by Lancaster’s Steven Michel in his championship bout. Noble, who won three of his four bouts in Thursday’s round-robin event, was pinned by Trent Egenlauf of the host Rangers.

Porter dropped a 9-3 decision to Renaldo Rodriguez-Spencer of Cheektowaga in his final.

Corey Ali (113), Chris Noccarrato (160) and Jordan Maynard (126) all finished third, and Jacob Brooks placed fourth at 285 for the Plainsmen.

Amsterdam coach Ken Benton got his 300th win as the Rams beat Rome Free Academy, 66-19, on the first day of competition at the Mountain Duals. The Rams also beat Dolgeville, and lost to Camden and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. Two-time state place finisher Brandon Lapi had four first-period pins for the Rams.
