McGowan lifts RPI past St. Cloud State, 4-3,

— Mark McGowan scored with 2:12 left to give Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst-itute a 4-3 non-conference win over St. Cloud State on Thursday.

The Engineers (5-6-4) fell behind in the first period, 2-0, but came back to take a 3-2 lead in the second on a goal by Ryan Haggerty and two by Milos Bubela.

Mike Zalewski assisted on all three goals.

Cory Thorson tied it for St. Cloud State (11-8-0) at 12:33 of the third.

McGowan’s game-winner, his third goal of the season, was assisted by CJ Lee and Marty O’Grady.
