Scotia-Glenville improves to 7-0

Joe Cremo and Dom LaMorta both scored 21 points, helping Scotia-Glenville beat Cohoes, 70-58, Thursday night in a non-league boys’ basketball game.

The 7-0 Tartans, who got another 14 points from Andrew Tabbert, increased their lead at the end of each quarter. Cremo had 15 rebounds, and Tabbert grabbed 14.

Brandon LaForest and Elijah Newsome had a combined 36 points for the Tigers.

Jamil Hood scored 19 points, and both Kristopher Clark and Maurice West added 14 as Green Tech defeated Schenectady, 83-52.

Shani Moses scored 13 points, and Darius Macon had 10 for the 4-3 Patriots.

Greig Stire scored 26 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, and Nathaniel Robinson added 19 ponts, as CBA beat St. Peter’s of Staten Island, 71-61, in the first round of its own tournament.

Bethlehem got 18 points from John Sica, and 17 from Nathan Kane, in beating Middletown, 72-65, in overtime, in the other opener. Connor Morelli and Myles Bergere combined for another 21 for the Eagles.

On the boys’ side, the Shawn Walsh Memorial event will open tonight with Queensbury meeting Columbia at 6, with the Spartans playing Saugerties in the second game. The consolation game is set for 5:30 Saturday, with the champ-ionship game at 7.

The second game of the first round of the girls’ tourney between Columbia and Duanesburg will go off today at 2, with the winner meeting Tamarac in Saturday’s 3 p.m. title game. The loser plays the host Lady Spartans in Saturday’s 1 p.m. consolation.

Boys’ tournaments in Gloversville, Northville. and Cooperstown — where Fort Plain and Cobleskill-Richmondville are playing — were also moved to today, as were girls’ tournaments at Colonie, Mohon-asen, Holy Names, Broadalbin-Perth and Mayfield.

The Colonie and Mayfield events are in their second day. The others open today and comclude Saturday.
