Thomas, the second amendment is as real as the first and you will never get rid of it. Start putting killers on death row and start hitting people who get illegal guns for criminal use with life. Stop letting murders back onto the streets and start making examples of gangbangers who carry guns. Leave the rest of the law abiding people alone and stop trying to take away their rights. Yes it is a right to own a gun and ammo. And any gun you say is meant to kill large numbers of people quickly I say is meant to protect one person from multiple attackers very quickly. So these weapons do have use for lawful self defense and are relevant in the case of a large natural disasters that cut people off from immediate police and military services, a terrorist attack, or a case where several armed criminals decide to invade a home(this happens often in the US).
