Boys' basketball: Horses put on late charge, topple CBA

Troy outscored Christian Brothers Academy, 19-6, in the fourth quarter to pull out a 54-52 victory in the Big 10 on Friday night.

It was the third straight two-point regular-season game between the schools, who split two games last year before Troy won the league championship. CBA beat Troy in the Section II Class AA final in double overtime.

Siena-bound Javion Ogunyemi scored 14 points for Troy (5-1), Dyaire Holt scored 12 and Jerrell Reid had 11.

Grieg Stire led CBA (6-1) with 20 points.

Keishaun Wheelings scored 17 points as Schenectady cruised past Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, 82-44.

Clarence Stanford scored 13 points for the Patriots, Randall Symes had 11 points and Kapreme Irving added 10.

Dwayne Freeman led the Golden Knights with 20 points.

LaSalle defeated Albany, 71-54, behind 26 points from Elijah Burns, 18 from Ralph Erickson and 15 from Dom Razzano.

Keneeff Danzy scored 16 points for the Falcons.

Also in the Big 10, Amsterdam erupted for 49 points in the second half to beat Bishop Maginn, 71-66.

Luis Laboy scored 24 points for the Rams (2-4), Robert Sherlock scored 18 and Zachary Dufel scored 13.

Demere Hannah led the Golden Griffins (2-4) with 21 points, JaQuan Jones scored 18 and Maurice Friend had 14.

Shenendehowa outscored Colonie, 14-10, in the fourth quarter to pull out a 53-50 win in the Suburban Council.

Brandon Fischer led the Plainsmen with 15 points, and Drew Zlogar scored 12.

Jake Samuels scored 16 points for Colonie, and Nolan Smith had 11 points.

Bethlehem improved to 5-0 in the Suburban Council by beating Ballston Spa, 90-39.

Connor Morelli scored 22 points for the Eagles, who led at halftime, 46-20, and John Sica scored 12.

Jalil Nails scored 25 points as Columbia held off Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 71-69.

Nails also had eight rebounds, and Conrad Zampier scored 22 points for the Blue Devils.

Dave Wellington led Burnt Hills with 25 points, and Rob Knightes scored 21.

Averill Park jumped on Saratoga Springs with a 20-4 first quarter, and went on to win, 66-39.

Dan VanRoy scored 22 points for the Warriors, Myles Joyce scored 17 and Lucas Ziegler made five three-pointers for 15 points.

Malik Dare scored 22 points, and Zach Yakel made five three-pointers and scored 19 points as Shaker defeated Mohonasen, 59-32.

Grant Massaroni scored 11 points for Mohonasen.

Jordan Gleason scored 11 of his 35 points in overtime as Watervliet defeated Cohoes, 73-62, in the Colonial Council.

Shane Ray scored 14 points for the Cannoneers, and Will Francis scored 12.

Brandon LaForest held Cohoes with 18 points, and Elijah Newsome scored 14.

Steve Rybka scored 15 points and Steve James 10 as Ichabod Crane (3-2, 5-2) handed Schalmont its first Colonial Council loss of the season, 53-36.

Lucas Curtain scored 12 points for the Sabres (3-1, 4-2), and Devin Murphy scored 11.

Voorheesville edged Mechanicville, 59-55, as Logan Hotaling scored 20 points for the Blackbirds.

Niko Dumas led Mechanicville with 14 points.

Lansingburgh outscored Cobleskill-Richmondville, 21-8, in the second quarter and went on to win, 61-48.

Adam Burke scored 17 points for the Knights, Malik Miller scored 13 and Darnell Sutton scored 12.

Ben Berard made six three-pointers and scored 26 points for C-R.

Queensbury outscored Gloversville, 6-3, in overtime to pull out a 69-66 win in the Foothills Council.

Charles Peltz had 24 points for the Spartans, and Troy Kelly scored 22.

Asa Barnhill scored 18 points for Gloversville, Hunter Goodwin had 16 points and Kevin Johnston added 11.

Jamal Vazquez scored 14 points, and Ricky Mitchell scored 13 as Johnstown defeated Hudson Falls, 51-39.

Brandon Winchell led the Tigers with 12 points, and Matt Connolly scored 10.

Glens Falls improved to 3-1 in the Foothills and 3-2 overall with a 64-47 win over Broadalbin-Perth.

Cam Girard scored 18 points for Glens Falls, Mike LaNoir scored 17 and Jordon Green had 15 points.

Andre Taylor led the Patriots (1-3, 3-4) with 13 points.

Kevin Shannon scored 14 points to lead Canajoharie to a 53-43 win over St. Johnsville in the Western Athletic Conference.

Canajoharie improved to 6-2.

Brandon Campione scored 17 points for St. Johnsville (1-4, 1-5).

Barcley Hayward scored 15 points, and Tim Monette had 14 points and eight rebounds as Northville (2-3, 3-4) got past Mayfield, 52-47.

Dylan Toscano scored 18 points for Mayfield (3-3, 4-4).

Saratoga Catholic rolled past Fort Plain, 72-25, as Ryan Czarnecki scored 14 points for the Saints.

Michael Naughton and Luke Spicer each scored 11 for Saratoga Catholic (3-2, 3-4), and Keegan Murphy scored 10.

Fort Plain fell to 4-1 in the WAC and 5-2 overall.

Corinth was outscored in the fourth quarter, 24-14, but held on for a 52-49 win over Salem in the Adirondack League.

Zac Lucia had 15 points and six assists for Corinth (4-2), Blake Basmajian scored 10 points and Zen Baudoux had eight points and 10 rebounds.

P.H. LePorte scored 27 points for Salem.

Gabe Brown scored 20 points, and Mat Yamin had 15 as Loudonville Christian School defeated Duanesburg, 49-34, in a non-league game.

Dylan Madison scored 13 points for Duanesburg.
