— A 41-year-old Fort Johnson man was killed Friday when a tree he was cutting fell on him, according to the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.

James A. Vanderwerker Sr. died about 2:30 p.m. in the woods along an area off of Barlow Road near County Route 125.

Sheriff Thomas Lorey said Vanderwerker died instantly when the tree fell on him. Vanderwerker was logging in the woods with a crew working for a private company.
