— State police said an off-duty trooper was drunk when he crashed his vehicle on an Interstate 90 off-ramp Sunday evening.

Gregory S. Bennett, 39, was charged with driving while intoxicated following the accident in which he suffered minor facial injuries. The accident occurred while Bennett was driving westbound at the Exit 3 off ramp in the city of Albany.

He is expected to appear in city court later this month.

Bennett, a 13-year veteran of the state police, was off-duty at the time and operating his own vehicle. He is a technical sergeant assigned to Division Headquarters’ Communication Section, according to state police.

Bennett submitted to a chemical test, which revealed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.14 percent. He has been suspended without pay, according to police.
