Sex offender faces robbery charge

A registered sex offender robbed a convenience store, Amsterdam police said. Officers charged Johnathan Palombo, 26, of Amsterdam with robbery, a felony; petty larceny, a misdemeanor; and failure to register an address change as a sex offender, a second-offense felony. Police said Palombo admitted to the robbery when they picked him up on an unrelated warrant and interviewed him about the incident. The robbery took place Nov. 24.
