Sex offender faces robbery charge
AMSTERDAM A registered sex offender robbed a convenience store, Amsterdam police said.
Officers charged Johnathan Palombo, 26, of Amsterdam with robbery, a felony; petty larceny, a misdemeanor; and failure to register an address change as a sex offender, a second-offense felony.
Police said Palombo admitted to the robbery when they picked him up on an unrelated warrant and interviewed him about the incident.
The robbery took place Nov. 24. A man walked into Kings Food and Fuel, 72 Guy Park Ave., implied he had a weapon and demanded cash. The clerk opened the cash register for the man and later gave police a detailed description of the robber, which included a tattoo on his left wrist and a distinctive sweat shirt.
