Brazil’s 20 points leads Fordians to 4-0

Carly Brazil scored a season-high 20 points, and the Waterford-Halfmoon girls’ basketball team went to 4-0 in the Central Hudson Valley League with a 53-24 victory over Germantown Thursday night.

Erin Howe scored 11 points for the Fordians, and Megan Phelan had 10 for the Clippers.

Talia Segal sparked Emma Willard’s defense with seven steals in a 36-16 CHVL win over Berlin.

Segal and Meaghan Sausville scored seven points apiece to lead the Jesters. Maggie Gordon had 11 points for Berlin.

Vanessa Miller scored 13 points as the host Indians beat Sharon Springs, 35-23, in the first round of the Richfield Springs Tournament.

Mat Yamin led four double-digit scorers with 20 points, and Loudonville Christian eased past New Lebanon, 76-26, in a CHVL game.

Gabe Brown and James Hilton both had 12 points for Loudonville, and Ryan Phelps had 10. Zack Krajkowski scored 13 for New Lebanon.

Nolan Lewis fired in 22 points, Corey Rathinger and Tyler Fuchs both added 12, and Germantown beat Waterford-Halfmoon, 65-24.

Nick Gallo recorded a 24-second pin, and Schalmont also got pins from Alex Lambert, Paul Lambert, Ryan Motyka and Ben Newcomb in a 54-27 Colonial Council win over Albany Academy.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk opened with pins by Freddy Pech-ette, Mike Parker and Luke Misur-aca, and Patrick Peters and Logan Kunkle added falls in a 66-18 Col-onial Council win over Cohoes.

Adam Erno’s 23-second pin was one of three for Mechanicville in a 47-36 win over Ichabod Crane.

Adam Day and Justin Brown had back-to-back pins for the Riders, and both improved to 7-0.

Dean Poulin’s 15-second pin highlighted Galway’s 50-30 Western Athletic Conference win over Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Seth Carter, Dominic Riccio, Colyn Ainsworth, Steven Culbert and John Mulligan also pinned for Galway.

Duanesburg opened its season with an 82-0 non-league win at Green Tech, with John Nicolella, Austin Lown, Nick Cornaire, Jeff Senecal and Charles Mueller pinning for the Eagles.

Dan Banewicz, Jorge Rivera and Chris Velasquez notched pins as Amsterdam topped Glens Falls, 47-22.
