High school hockey: Vetrone scores three

Jordan Vetrone scored his third goal with 30 seconds left in the second period, and Shaker/Colonie made it stand up in a 5-4 non-league win over Monroe-Woodbury.

All of the game’s scoring came in the second period, with Vetrone’s first two goals 18 seconds apart giving the Jets a 2-1 lead.

Despite getting two goals from Nick VanLieuw, Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa lost to Lake Placid, 5-4, on the second day of the Saranac Lake tournament. BH/BS skated to a 3-3 tie with the hosts in Friday’s first round.

Niskayuna/Schenectady went 0-2 at the same tounament, despite scoring eight goals.. The Mohawks dropped a 5-3 decision ot Lake Placid on Friday, and lost, 6-5, to the host team in the second round. Lucas Maloney had three goals in the loss to Saranac Lake.
