— Keith Kinkaid made 44 saves to hold off the Adirondack Phantoms in a 3-2 win Saturday for the Albany Devils at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

The Devils (5-8-0-5) struck first off the stick of Joe Whitney just three seconds before the first intermission, then added another 31 seconds into the second period with Jacob Josefson’s eighth goal of the season.

Adirondack (9-11-0-0) got one back on an Erik Gustafsson power-play strike at 6:31 in the second period, but Albany’s Mattias Tedenby re-established the two-goal lead early in the third period.

Tye McGinn made it interesting at the end on a power-play goal with 1:16 left in regulation. The Phantoms had pulled goalie Cal Heeter for an extra attacker, so they had a six-on-four advantage.

The Devils have won three of the first four games between the teams this season. They will play 12 times in all, the next meeting being Jan. 18 in Glens Falls.

Heeter made 31 saves for the Phantoms, who will next play Friday at Rochester. Albany will host Bridgeport Saturday.
