Softball: Russell stars for Mechanicville
Alysa Russell belted a pair of homers, a triple and drove in eight runs as Mechanicville beat Voorheesville, 15-0, in five innings in a Colonial Council game.
Kirstyn Alonzo and Allison Ford combined on a one-hitter for the Lady Raiders, 5-0 in the league and 7-2 overall.
Kylie Liberty and Alison Ford added for Mechanicville.
Grace Ziamandanis had the Voorheesville hit.
Ichabod Crane scored three unearned runs in the top of the seventh to beat Schalmont, 3-0, in the Colonial Council.
Schalmont’s Lauren Mahar had a no-hitter with two out in the seventh before Reychel Webster singled for the Riders.
Winning pitcher Erin Wadsworth reached on an error, and both runners scored on Krysta Konderwich’s double. Kim Myers singled in a third run for Ichabod Crane.
Erika Daigle fired a one-hitter, and Shenendehowa stayed unbeaten with a 6-0 win over Mohonasen as the Suburban Council teams played interdivisional games.
Brian Swota back Daigle’s effort with a home run and three runs batted in. Caitlin Lawson added two hits and scored twice, and Daigle struck out 15 for the 7-0, 9-0 Lady Plainsmen.
Kelly Lane’s two-hitter helped Colonie shut down Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 7-1. Lane also went 4-for-4 at the plate and drove in a pair of runs as the Lady Raiders improved to 6-1 in league play.
Meg Heck had two hits for the Lady Spartans.
Caitlin Cooper threw a two-hitter, and Nia Moore’s three-run homer run highlighted seven-run first inning as Columbia blanked Shaker, 8-0.
Haley VanVorst added a double and drove in two runs to back Cooper, who surrendered just two singles. Columbia is 6-1.
Abi Peck’s grand slam as Guilderland beat Ballston Spa, 11-6, in eight innings.
Taylor Ten Eyck added a 3-for-5 game with a triple, double and two RBI for the 5-2 Lady Dutch.
Morgan Thorne and Taylor McMahon both had two hits for the Lady Scotties, with Thorne driving in two runs.
Michela Puglisi threw a four-hitter as Amsterdam beat Schenectady, 3-0, in the Big 10.
Ashley Przybylowicz singled, doubled, tripled, drove in a run and scored once for the Lady Rams.
Kelly Phillips had three hits and scored four runs as Galway beat Middleburgh, 24-4, in the Western Athletic Conference.
Noelle Morgan and Emily Jenkins both knocked in a run for the Lady Knights.
Alex Rollis threw a five-inning perfect game, striking out 12 of the 15 hitters, as unbeaten Loudonville Christian School downed Heatly, 18-0, in the Central Hudson Valley League.
