Goldstock’s six goals propel Silver Warriors

Luke Goldstock scored six goals and assisted on four, and Niskayuna did all of its offensive damage in three quarters in a 16-4 Suburban Council boys’ lacrosse win at Guilderland Tuesday.

Goldstock, a junior who has committed to North Carolina, has a team-leading 31 goals for the Silver Warriors (5-0, 6-0). His four assists and 10 points were both season highs.

Justin Pirardi notched three goals and two assists, Lucas Maloney scored three goals, and Tanner MacIvor and Blake Pfohl both had three assists for Niskayuna. Patrick Wood had a goal and an assist for the Dutchmen.

Joe Romano collected three goals and two assists, D.J. Edick had a hat trick, and Kyle Marr continued his productive season with two goals and three assists as Shenendehowa (5-1, 5-2) defeated Colonie, 15-3, for its fifth straight Suburban Council win.

Matt McDonald had a goal and six assists, and Ballston Spa (1-2, 3-2) went up after three quarters, 9-5, in a 9-8 triumph at Bethlehem. Liam Christensen paced the Eagles with two goals and two assists.

Trevor Hiss scored five goals and assisted on five, and Nick Vincent had a hat trick with two assists as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake downed Columbia, 15-3.

John Countryman pumped in four goals, and Rob Orban had two goals and four assists in Queensbury’s 16-5 Foothills Council win over South Glens Falls.

Glens Falls beat Johnstown, 15-0, behind Connor McGuirk’s four goals and five points, and a combined five saves from Matt Mender and Nate Austin.

Ben Mannix clicked for three goals, Sean Flanders scored once with four assists, and netminder Tom Thompson had an assist to go with six saves as Schuylerville beat Maple Hill’s first-year varsity, 15-2, in a Wasaren League game.

Skyler Saunders had four goals and a pair of assists, and Bryant Gibbons put in three goals to help Cambridge turn back Lansingburgh, 9-5. Colin Winters had three goals and four points for the Knights.

Stephen Rehfuss scored four goals, Steve Farrell was one of four Shaker players with two goals, and both totaled five points in a 15-4 non-league win over LaSalle.

Chet Dufour led a balanced Alb­any Academy offense with two goals and an assist in an 8-3 victory at Troy.

Girls

Chloe Knapp scored her school-record 11th goal with 24 seconds left, and assisted twice beforehand, in Glens Falls’ 22-21 Foothills Council win at South Glens Falls.

Knapp’s 11 goals tied for the second most in Section II single-game history, equalling the output by Sara Bonacquist of Schenectady (2008) and Tara Akstull of Shenendehowa (2004). Shelby Wood of Holy Names scored 12 during the 2010 season.

Emily White had six goals and four assists for Glens Falls, and Taylor Volkman piled up eight goals and two assists for South Glens Falls.

Moriah Greenstein picked up five goals and six assists, and Tori McGrath also fired in five goals, in Bethlehem’s 17-3 Suburban Council win at Ballston Spa. Kassie Purcell scored three goals for the Scotties.

Catherine Clark rang up seven points including four goals, and Nicole Beardsley and Amy LeBel both had three goals and an assist as Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake ended a three-game slide with a 13-6 Suburban Council win over Columbia. Gabrielle Childrose topped the Blue Devils with three goals.

Emma Kern had three goals and as many assists, Emily Lange had three goals and one helper, and Saratoga Springs defeated Averill Park, 16-6. Emily Halpin had two goals and two assists for the Warriors.

Cannoneers win

Josh Veshia ripped three singles and drove in four runs as Water­vliet clipped Albany Academy, 13-12, in the Colonial Council.

Brandon Legault (double, two singles) and Taylor Dockstader (two doubles, single) also excelled for the 2-1, 3-3 Cannoneers, who turned four double plays in the game.

Ted Smallwood (double, three singles, two RBI) and Justin Brock (two singles, double, two RBI) led 1-2 Albany Academy.

Charles Parslow went 3-for-4, and Kevin Twardzik, Albert Fior­enza and Jarrett Ladd added two hits apiece as Fonda-Fultonville stopped Cobleskill-Richmondville, 8-4.

Parslow also went the distance on the mound for the 1-2, 3-3 Braves.

In a battle of two of the better pitchers in the Colonial Council, Voorheesville blanked Schalmont, 2-0, on a one-hitter by Kevin Connolly.

Connolly struck out 11, while his counterpart, Chris Amorosi, struck out nine while tossing a three-hitter. Mike Chiseri had two hits and an RBI for the 3-0, 6-0 Blackbirds. Schalmont dropped to 2-1 and 2-2.

Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk used four RBI and two hits from Conner Zeoli and three RBI and two hits from Mike Ferriero to beat Cohoes, 12-5.

R-C-S improved to 1-2 and 1-4. Kevin Napier doubled and singled for 0-3, 4-4 Cohoes.

Ryan McGrath plated three runs with a triple and single, and both Evan Hunziker and Jarrod Jarosz had two hits and two RBI to lead Lansingburgh (2-0, 5-1) over Mechanicville, 13-2.

Sam DeCelle tripled, and Adam Dunn doubled for 0-3, 1-5 Mechanicville.

Hoosick Falls stopped Cambridge, 3-1, in the Wasaren League as both pitching staffs held the opposition down.

Billy Pine fired a two-hitter and struck out nine for the 2-1, 3-2 Panthers.

Tamarac (2-1, 3-5) ripped 18 hits and beat Stillwater, 16-7.

Connor Johnson drove in two runs with two hits for the Bengals. Connor Jones had three hits for 1-2 Stillwater.

Joe Rooney drove in three runs with two hits, and J.T. Sawyer had two hits and two RBI to lead Hoosic Valley (3-0, 9-0) over Granville, 12-4.

Dylan Sprague drove in a pair of runs with a triple and a single to push Averill Park past Cath­olic Central, 9-3, in a non-league game.

Jake Benardo drove in four runs with a pair of doubles to lift LaSalle over Ichabod Crane, 10-8, in another non-league game.

Kyle Sacks added three hits and two RBI for the Cadets.

Softball

Cohoes blanks Ravena

Courtney Dayter threw a three-hitter and struck out 15, and Briana Bowen hit two home runs and drove in five runs, leading Cohoes past Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 18-0, in a Colonial Council game.

Courtney Gumprecht also hit a home run, and finished with four hits and three RBI as the Lady Tigers improved to 3-0 in the league.

Ashley Houk hit a triple for Ravena.

Amanda Gatt threw a two-hitter and struck out 14, as Voorheesville beat Schalmont, 6-1, in the Col­onial.

Gatt and Bryn Davies both had two hits for the 2-1, 4-3 Lady Blackbirds.

Kelly Brust’s two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Cobleskill-Richmondville a 7-6 win over Fonda-Fultonville.

Jaimie Bartholomew cracked a three-run home run in a four-run sixth inning for the Lady Bulldogs, who won their first Colonial game of the season.

Sam Hart had a pair of singles for the Lady Braves.

Greenwich put up 15 hits, and Rachel Albrecht threw a six-hitter to lead Greenwich past Schuylerville, 11-0, in the Wasaren League.

Carolin Strasswimmer had three singles and Dani DeGregory had a pair of doubles and a single for the Lady Witches.

Myah Ondreyko went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, and both Sierra Matthews and Sloan Connors both had three hits, as Saratoga Central Catholic beat North Warren, 19-3, in a non-league game.

Alex Rollis threw a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts, Ange Stephano had four hits and Sammy Perry hit a home run as 5-0 Loudonville Christian School beat Fort Ann, 8-2, in a non-leaguer.
