— A Schenectady man is in jail after allegedly shooting a handgun into a crowd Saturday night.

Shaborn T. Macon, 18, of 5 Elbert St. was arrested and charged with reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawfully discharging a firearm within city limits.

Troy police patrols were in the area of 102nd Street and Fifth Avenue in North Troy at about 6:30 p.m. when they heard what sounded like gunshots. At the same time, dispatchers received reports of shots fired at Douw Street and Sixth Avenue.

Officers determined that there had been a street fight between rival female groups.

Witnesses told police a man produced a handgun and fired several shots into the crowd. No one was struck or injured, police said.

Officers searched a building on Seventh Avenue and found a handgun in a stairwell. Witnesses identified Macon as the shooter, police said.
