Kelly Camardo scored her third goal with 1:13 left as Guilderland edged Canandaigua, 11-10, in a non-league girls’ lacrosse game Saturday matching state-ranked teams at Union College.

Camardo’s goal capped an 8-4 second-half run and kept Guilderland (6-0) unbeaten heading into Tuesday’s Suburban Council showdown at Niskayuna (5-0).

“It was a great game to win,” said Guilderland coach Gary Chatnik. “Canandaigua is a very good team. They have the best sticks we’ve seen this year.”

Kendall Cietek led the Lady Dutch with four goals, and Morgan Hardt scored three goals for the state’s No. 5-ranked Class A team.

Canandaigua (5-1), ranked No. 3 among the state’s Class B teams, got three goals and an assist from both Jordan Johnson and Dakotah Savitcheff. Kendall D’Amore scored two goals, including a tying tally before Camardo answered.

“It was an up and down game,” said Chatnik. “We were trailing early in the second half, 7-3, then Kendall hit two in a row and Hardt hit two in a row. It went back and forth after that.”

Guilderland had won each of its previous five games by at least 10 goals.

BOYS

Cody Schnepf scored his school record-tying eighth goal 23 seconds into overtime during a man-up opportunity, and Schenectady won its first game, 16-15, at South Glens Falls.

Jordan Zaman had three goals and three assists for the Patriots (1-5), and set up Schnepf’s game-winner after tying the game with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

“It wasn’t our best game. There were a lot of penalties and some things happened, but we battled back in the last quarter and came away with a win,” said Schenectady coach Dave Trahan. “It’s nice to get one. We’ve been close a couple of times.”

Jake Normandin scored five goals for the Bulldogs (2-3), Quinton Price had four goals and two assists and Connor Neal had two goals and five assists.

“It was definitely a crazy game,” said Trahan. “We were up by six goals in the first quarter. In the third quarter, they were up by five goals.”

Shenendehowa and Lakeland/Panas continued their series of close games, with a late Plainsmen rally falling short in an 8-6 non-league loss to the Rebels.

Mike Jenkins paced Shenendehowa (3-2) with three goals and an assist, and D.J. Edick pumped in two goals. Grant Perea had three goals and an assist for Lakeland/Panas (4-2), which was up, 8-4, entering the final quarter.
