Softball: Mahar strikes out 13 in Schalmont win

Lauren Mahar struck out 13 and allowed only one run over the final six innings Wednesday, leading Schalmont past Albany Academy, 11-4, in a Colonial Council softball game.

Emily McLaughlin homered, singled twice and drive in a pair of runs for the Lady Sabres. Marley Gigler also homered and knocked in a pair of runs for Schalmont.

Nina Freed had a triple and drove in two runs for the Bears.

Sam Fraser threw a two-hitter, and Fonda-Fultonville scored three runs despite being no-hit by Amanda Gatt on beating Voorheesville, 3-0. Fraser struck out nine.

In four starts this season, Gatt has allowed two hits and struck out 63.

Courtney Dayter tossed a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts, and catcher Courtney Gumprecht drove in two runs to lead Cohoes past Lansingburgh, 2-0.

Zoe Dubois hit a three-run homer in the top of the ninth to give Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake a 3-1 win over Shaker in the Suburban Council.

Dubois also had a triple.

Chelsea Elliott doubled, and Jillian Hogan had two singles for Shaker.

Kelly Lane fired a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts and went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI as Colonie topped Averill Park, 7-2.

Stephanie Reinhardt added two hits and three RBI, and Sam Blum tripled and knocked in two for the 2-0 Lady Raiders.

Caroline Wood tripled and drove in a run for 0-2 Averill Park.

Rebekah Kitchen clubbed a two-run homer, Sammy Smaldone had a two-run double and Mikayla Shade had two RBI as Bethlehem beat Guilderland, 8-4.

Jess Peck had a single, double two RBI for the Lady Dutch.

Samara Perry had two hits to back Caitlin Cooper’s two-hitter as Columbia beat Mohonasen, 11-0.

Maria Patterson and Leah Dynysiuk both had a single for Mohonasen.

Katie Farineau had four hits and drove in four runs, and Hannah Bowersox had three doubles and drove in two runs as Schoharie topped Galway, 17-8, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Katie Zawisa had three hits and drove in three runs for the Lady Eagles.

Rachel Quackenbush allowed just a pair of infield singles and hit a solo home run as Hoosick Falls edged Greenwich, 3-1, in the Wasaren League.

Alex Rollis threw a no-hitter and struck out 12, and Justin Makinson drove in five runs as Loudonville Christian School beat Emma Willard, 36-0, in the CHVL.

Kylie Helsley and Carrigan Buhler combined to drive in seven runs as Germantown downed New Lebanon, 20-9, in the CHVL.
