Levan goal gives Spartans OT win

MacKenzie Levan scored with 24 seconds remaining in overtime to lift Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake to a 10-9 Suburban Council girls’ lacrosse win over Saratoga Springs on Tuesday.

It was Levan’s second goal of the game for the Spartans (1-0 league, 2-0 overall). Cat Clark and Nicole Beardsley both had two goals and an assist, and goalkeeper Lexie Ball made 19 saves for the defending Section II Class B champs.

The Blue Streaks (1-2, 1-3) got four goals from Emily Lange.

Bethlehem’s Tori McGrath had six goals and an assist in an 18-3 win over Averill Park. Mariah Greenstein had three goals and seven assists, and Katie Rickert added a hat trick for the Eagles.

Guilderland beat Columbia, 21-7, with six goals from Morgan Hardt and three from Shelby Iapoce Goldeman.

Niskayuna edged Shenendehowa, 9-8, in overtime. Kelly Schlansker had three goals, while All-Americans Ritchie Assini and Kayla Treanor both scored twice for the Silver Wariors.

Shenendehowa got four goals from Kelly Wall.

Lauren Smith scored four goals in Shaker’s 14-3 win at Ballston Spa.

Emma Stein produced three goals, and Greenwich went on an 8-2 second-half run to beat Scotia-Glenville, 11-10, in the Foothills Council. Megan Clune had two goals and three assists for the Tartans.

In non-league action, Schuylerville beat Schenectady with six goals from Ally Liptak, 14-12. The Patriots got six goals from Kia Ference and five from Gabrielle Billsborrow.

Emma Malicki scored six goals for Albany Academy in an 18-9 win over Colonie. The Garnet Raiders were led by Kim Carr’s five goals.

Boys’ lacrosse

LaSalle’s Conor Shanahan scored three times and assisted twice in an 8-6 Big 10 win over Schenectady.

Schenectady got three goals and an assist from Cody Schnepf.

Cody Dyer had four goals and five points, Connor Drislane picked up four assists with a goal, and Guilderland beat Columbia, 13-3, in the Suburban Council.

Steve Farrell matched Colonie’s goal total with four, and Tim Leahey had a hat trick in Shaker’s 10-4 victory.

Albany Academy goalie Max Ciavacco made six saves to shut out Maple Hill in a 12-0 non-league win. Academy (2-0) got two goals apiece from Matt Balter, Jack Esler, Hugh Fisher and Nick DeVito.

Eighth-grader Dylan Klock scattered four hits and struck out nine, and Ron Jaikin smacked a two-run triple as St. Johnsville posted a 6-2 Western Athletic Conference win at Middleburgh.

Middleburgh hurler Josh Whittaker struck out 11.

Mayfield scored four runs in the sixth inning to beat Galway, 8-7. For Galway, Nick Manna doubled and singled twice, driving in two runs.

In a non-leaguer, Christian Brothers Academy held off Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 8-7. Matt Sand had three singles and a double, Chase Crawford had three hits, and Pete Rustoqicz had two singles and a homer. Freshman Danny Maynard had two hits for the Spartans.

Ryland VanPraag had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two as Hoosic Valley beat Coxsackie-Athens, 9-3.

Cody Cater and Trey Brammer both knocked in a run in Cohoes’ 3-1 win over Hudson.

Shenendehowa topped Saratoga Springs, 10-1, in Suburban Council play with three RBI from both Melissa Morgan and Amanda Aug-ustson. Morgan was 4-for-4 with two runs. Pitcher Erika Daigle struck out 11 batters for the 2-0 Lady Plainsmen.

Nicole Little had a triple among three hits and drove in a run as part of Mayfield’s 10-2 Western Athletic Conference win over Galway. Brooke Zimmerman had two hits and scored three times for Mayfield.

In a non-league contest, Saratoga Central Catholic beat North Warren, 12-4. Sierra Matthews, Myah Ondreyko and Natalie Pikus each had two hits.
