— Police in Whitehall say a state prison guard has been charged with trying to lure teenage girls into his vehicle.

Whitehall Police Chief Matthew Dickinson says today that 25-year-old Joshua Davison of West Chazy was charged Wednesday with five counts of endangering the welfare of a child. Dickinson says seven girls ages 13 to 17 reported being stopped by Davison and asked if they needed a ride. Police say Davison propositioned at least one of the teens for sex.

Authorities say Davison has worked as corrections officer at Great Meadow Correctional Facility in Fort Ann in Washington County since 2007. Police say he was wearing his uniform when he confronted the girls during encounters that dated back to last summer.

Police didn’t know if he has a lawyer.
