UAlbany student commits suicide
ALBANY A University at Albany freshman from Long Island committed suicide in her dormitory room Wednesday, university officials confirmed.
The student, whose name is being withheld by The Daily Gazette, resided on Indian Quad. The University Police Department is investigating the matter and no further details are available.
The university is extending its condolences to her family and friends and has asked people to obtain assistance if needed.
“During this difficult time, the university has encouraged its community to seek counseling and support through the University Counseling Center, Middle Earth peer assistance program and Chapel House campus ministries,” it said in a statement.
