Hurry up!. You don’t want to miss the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington, Mass., today at 3 p.m. No choreographer alive is as simultaneously witty and thoughtful as Paul Taylor. On his return to the Mahaiwe, his brilliant ensemble will showcase his latest work, “Also Playing,” a salute to vaudevillian comedy as well as the blithe “Brandenburgs” and his effervescent nod to tango, “Piazzolla Caldera.”

In July, catch the New York City Ballet in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (July 7, 8 and 10). Sure, you’ve probably seen it a dozen times. But this George Balanchine evening-length staple is one of his best theatrical efforts and a perfect occasion for a midsummer night at the outdoor amphitheater.

CND2 from Spain is young, strong and dancing some of the most stunning choreography coming out of Europe, mainly from its founder Nacho Duato. They’re at Jacob’s Pillow in Becket, Mass., July 28 to Aug. 1. In addition to works by Duato, the company will present the U.S. premiere of “Insected,” by co-Artistic Director Tony Fabre.

Need a good laugh? Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo at Jacob’s Pillow (Aug. 11 to 15) is for you. The Trocks, an all-male ensemble, puts on pointe shoes, tutus and tiaras to spoof Petipa and Balanchine, transforming high art into high comedy.

Also at the Pillow, don’t miss Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (Aug. 5-29.) Hubbard Street is an audience favorite for good reason. This is a technically radiant ensemble that dances some of the most adventurous repertory. In this festival finale, the glorious Chicago troupe will dance works by Aszure Barton, Alejandro Cerrudo and Ohad Naharin.
