Dear Entertainment Industry,
I just want to say thank you to the media for making me feel like I’m not good enough because I’m not a sultry goddess like Megan Fox or have perfect hips like Beyonce.
Thanks for making me feel like since I have short hair that I’m not pretty because all the hot chicks on the TV have long luscious flowing hair.
Thanks for being so superficial about how people look and editing models and celebrities to be super thin, even when they have a good body.
To me, being that thin is disgusting. But now that you’ve manipulated my perception on what is beautiful, I feel looking like that is what people want, even expect.
Can you just answer one question for me? Why can’t I be comfortable with myself? I’m 17 years old. I shouldn’t feel this much stress to look like a Barbie doll. I’m not fat. Yet I feel like it watching music videos featuring women with obviously unattainable measurements. I don’t have a standard “pretty girl” face. … So? That doesn’t mean I’m not.
So why don’t I see more unique looking people being appreciated in media? Do you know what that does to me? It hurts. Please stop.
