City Police are investigating a stabbing in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood this afternoon.

Police were called to Steuben Street, near the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet School, just after 2:30 p.m.

An officer on the scene said there was one victim. He had no information on the victim’s age, identity or condition, or if there were any arrests.

The victim was airlifted from the athletic fields of Mont Pleasant Middle School to Albany Medical Center by the Life Net helicopter. Paramedics would not comment on the condition of the victim. A call to police department Public Information Officer Sgt. Luciano Savoia was not returned.

Kasey Greene of Schenectady, who was visiting a friend on Steuben Street when the stabbing occurred, said “The Hill has gone bad. It’s not safe here anymore for the kids.”

Greene said she did not witness the incident. Other neighbors who were watching the police activity also said they only came outside when they heard police cruisers rushing to the scene.
