This store surveillance image released by the Saratoga Springs Police Dept. shows the suspect in a robbery this morning at a bank in the Hannaford store in Saratoga Springs.
SARATOGA SPRINGS City police are still looking for the man they say robbed a bank this morning in the Hannaford Supermarket on Weibel Avenue.
The man threatened one of the tellers at the Citizens Bank branch and demanded cash, but did not display a weapon in the 10:39 a.m. robbery, police said.
The teller handed over an undetermined amount of money and the suspect left the store on foot, possibly driving away in a four-door blue BMW or similar vehicle.
He is described as a white man about 5-foot-9 or six feet tall with blond or red hair and a mustache. Police said the suspect was dressed in black with a black bandana around his neck, a black beanie-style cap on his head, sunglasses and a black hooded sweatshirt with a design on the sleeves.
Immediately after the robbery, police officers converged on the store, searching nearby woods and interviewing passers-by, other stores, taxi and bus drivers.
Police have released surveillance camera photos and ask anyone who witnessed the crime or recognizes the person in the photos to call them at 584-1800. Anonymous crime tips can be left on the City Police Tip Line: 584-TIPS (584-8477) or via the web at www.saratogapolice.org.
The bank at 95 Weibel Ave. was robbed once before, in March 2008. That suspect was never caught. He also was described as a white male with a mustache.
