Man arrested after scuffle at Fonda-Fultonville-Duanesburg baseball game

— A Fonda man was arrested and accused of starting a fight at last night's baseball game between the Fonda-Fultonville and Duanesburg varsity teams, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's department.

George L. Sperow, 52, of 118 Davies Rd., was charged with disorderly conduct.

Sperow is accused of becoming disorderly during a pause in the game for a player injury. Police allege Sperow started yelling foul remarks towards the opposing team before a woman with a small child asked him to stop.

Police allege Sperow was confronted by the woman's husband and a scuffle ensued. Police allege Sperow was intoxicated. He was removed from the school grounds and banned from attending school athletic activities.

Sperow was issued an appearance ticket for June 2 in Mohawk Town Court.

Fonda-Fultonville won Wednesday's game, 3-1.

How sad of the bad examples that we had to experience from the Fonda region. Men drunk at sporting events, getting violent, not caring about there example to other people around them ! So Sad ...
