Have you ever met an awesome Saratoga Star? My sister Kerry is a figure skater for the Saratoga Stars.

“I like being on a team with all my friends and having a ball while working hard,” says Kerry.

The first time she got on the ice, she was only eighteen months old. She started lessons when she was six, and started synchronized skating when she was eleven.

Kerry and her team have traveled to Massachusetts (Cape Cod, Lowell and Plymouth), New Jersey and Lake Placid this year. She even won first place with her synchronized skating team.

Kerry says, “Before I get on the ice at a competition I am very nervous in fear of falling or doing poorly. Once I get on the ice all my fears go away.”

Kerry has been on the team for four years.

“This year there are ten people on our team. Although there are big age differences between some of us, we all act the same age. We are all friends and care about one another,” says Kerry.

Kerry’s team’s music is in the theme of a circus. She gets to do lots of cool moves like getting in a circle and moving up and down as if they are a merry-go-round and swinging under each other’s legs.

The team was proud when the Channel 9 News came to do a television report on them.

Kerry is now 14 and a very good skater.

They compete against a bunch of other awesome teams.

I can tell that Kerry will always love skating. She always tries her best and does very well.

She also gets to wear a pretty skating dress.

Kerry even inspired my cousin Gabriella to start lessons.

My sister goes to every practice unless she really can’t go.

Kerry and her team are doing so well that they went to compete in the Empire State Games over February break and won second place.

Kerry, my sister, loves to ice skate and always will. I believe Kerry will grow up to be an even better skater.
