The Grateful Dead’s first tour in five years will take the seminal jam band to the Times Union Center on Friday, April 17.
The 19-date tour in April and May comes on the heels of last year’s one-off benefit show for Barack Obama at Penn State on Oct. 13. That show’s lineup, which featured the four remaining band members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzman, augmented by guitarist Warren Haynes and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, are returning for the tour.
Show time and ticket prices have not yet been announced by the center, but the concert date has been posted on the band’s Web site. Visit www.dead.net for more information on the tour.
The Dead formed in San Francisco in 1965 under the leadership of Jerry Garcia, and became associated with the city’s psychedelic scene. Garcia died in 1995, but the remaining band members have soldiered on with other projects, occasionally reuniting to perform.
The band’s last tour was in 2004.

The "Grateful Dead" don't exist anymore. That band ended in 1995.
What your headline should have read is "The Dead". There's a difference -- and it's not trivial.
