Robustiano ignites Mohonasen win

Anthony Robustiano fired in 16 points Saturday, helping Mohon­asen to a 49-43 win over Colonie in a boys’ Suburban Council basketball game.

Robustiano made six of nine free throws and a pair of three-point baskets as the Mighty Warriors improved to 3-1 in the league.

Kameron Ritter had a game-high 23 points as CBA downed Troy, 51-40, in the Big 10. Josh Dennis added 10 points for the Brothers.

Austin Westerveld finished with 18 points as Cobleskill-Richmondville edged Schalmont, 57-54 in overtime, in the Colonial Council.

Porter Moody added 10 points for the 3-3 Bulldogs. Mark Belles led winless Schalmont with 18 points.

Haneef Scott fired in 26 points as Lansingburgh breezed past Water­vliet, 76-60. Christian Ashline led the Cannoneers with 22 points.

Kevin Donahue poured in 27 points as South Glens Falls bested Johnstown, 71-47, in the Foothills Council. Jordan Greene and Joe Collier combined for another 29 points for the Bulldogs.

Kevin Donohue and Ty Michaud teamed for 40 points, leading Hudson Falls past Broadalbin-Perth, 52-40, in another Foothills contest.

Gloversville coach Don Landrio picked up his 399th win as the 9-1 Dragons routed New Hartford of Section III, 77-50, behind Matt Baldwin’s 23 points.

Terell Winney scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds as Scotia-Glenville remained unbeaten by stopping Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 71-37, in a non-league contest.

Jim Jansen added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the 9-0 Tartans.

Will Gauthier of Chatham scored 29 points, outdueling Mechanicville’s Josh Rougia, who finished with 25, as the Blackbirds beat the Red Raiders, 66-57, in a non-league game.

Zach Bartlett had a game-best 26 points as Sharon Springs beat Richfield Springs, 68-46, in a non-league game.

Girls’ basketball

Tierney McGlynn scored a game-high 19 points as Watervliet beat Lansingburgh, 50-38, to go to 6-1 in league play and 9-1 overall.

Kierra Moore scored 18 points as Holy Names beat Voorheesville, 52-40. The winners used a 34-19 edge in the middle two quarters to take control.

Meg Olsen had 15 points, and Bethlehem went 17-for-25 from the foul line to slip past Averill Park, 42-40, in the Suburban Council.

Tehresa Coles, Sydnie Rosales and Shayla Madden combined for 40 points as Colonie topped Mohonasen, 54-43, in the Suburban Council.

Mallory Baum scored 14 points as Fort Plain downed Galway, 50-29, in the Western Athletic Conference. Kaley Schelling led the Eagles with 12 points.

Katie Pinkowski’s 18 points powered Argyle past Corinth, 42-36, in the Adirondack League. Jordan Madison (12) and Jenna Allen (11) led the Tomahawks.

Whitney Kugler scored 13 points, and Erin Davidson added 11 as Hoosic Valley beat Lake George, 53-26, to win the Queensbury Tournament title.

South Glens Falls beat the host Spartans, 44-28, for third place as Chelsea Carruthers and Alexa Toole combined for 22 points.

Jamiesha Bruton’s 19 points helped Troy get past Vestal, 58-56, in a non-league game.

Wrestling

Windsor went 5-for-6 in the finals to edge Queensbury by three points for the team title at the Sar­atoga Springs Tourn­ament.

The Black Knights finished with 1581⁄2 points, and got a key pin from Colton Perry, who stuck Queensbury’s Zach Hamell with one second left in their 103-pound title bout.

Queensbury had champions in Mike Hewitt (125) and Tony Fusco (152), with Matt Lashway (140) and T.J. Baldwin (145) also reaching the finals.

Kyle Warmt (140) and Chris Ohnsman (189) won titles for third-place Ballston Spa, and Schalmont had a pair of champions in Billy Chandler (145) and Vinny Gallo (171).

Schuylerville’s Dan Ladd (285) won his third Saratoga championship, as did Windsor’s David Kohlbach (160).

Gallo and Perry became two-time champs.

South Glens Falls sent eight to the finals in winning the team championship at the Ravena- Coeymans-Selkirk tourney.

Sophomore Shawn Girard (189) was the only Bulldog to win an individual title.

Andy Lyman of the host school won at 125, running his record to 14-1. He also has tourney wins at Columbia and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake. Joey Persico also won (112) for the hosts.

Other champions included Alb­any’s Shawn Berman (96) and Stephon Flood (160); Nick Lashway (135), Won Suh Nordquist (103) and Jordan Brand (285) of Glens Falls; CBA’s Eric Figueroa (160); Maple Hill’s Kyle Evans (130); and Jake Oswald (140) of Tamarac.

Shenendehowa dominated the field at its own tournament, finishing with five individual champions and six runners-up.

Nick Kelley (103), Luke Popolizio (112), Lee Smith (145), Austin Meys (189) and Mike Almaviva (215) won titles, with Popolizio beating teammate Dave Almaviva in the finals.

Mike Soricillo (96), John Bel­anger (119), Seth Hazleton (125) Casey Schnackenberg (135) and Jake Snide (152) also got to the finals.

Scotia-Glenville’s Dan Riggi picked up his second title of the week, following his win at Queensbury with the 125 title. Evan Burchhardt (215) also reached the finals for the Tartans, who got third-place finishes from Josh Colura (96) and Nick Leffler (119).

Evan Borst (119) and Ben Lynch (135) won individual championships to help Duanesburg place third at the Stan Elinsky tourney at Deposit/Hancock.

Borst was named Most Outstanding Wrestler for the light weights.
