The Daily Gazette's Web site has a new look, new features and new restrictions on access beginning today.
Subscribers to our print edition, and to our existing electronic edition, will have full access to the new site. Print subscribers won't see their costs rise, but they do need to fill out an online form to register. You can find a link to the form at the top of our home page.
If you're not a subscriber, you will still be able to access some of our content, but not the local news stories, columns or opinion pieces.
If you need help this morning, call our Circulation Department at 395-3060 or email us at help@dailygazette.net.
We've posted some basic information, including a link to a list of frequently asked questions, here .

Where and what new features are? You did not tell us what are feature for new and improving. You did not mention about Obituaries is no longer feature bution for www.dailygazette.com front page and transfer to E-edition login to get a daily obituaries information from there. Why? You should explain to us why that you change it for new feature. Your post was not enough explain for more details for warning to us to be change it. Thanks.

Actually, they have been discussing this for over a week now, and every single thing you said wasn't mentioned has been discussed over and over. If you have a print subscription, you aren't paying more for the online content. If you don't, you can get an online subscription for $2.75/week (as opposed to the $4/week for the print edition). So stop whining.

why Johnny, WHY do you think people are whining when they want their family all over the U.S to be able to read obits and sign guest books?
Since the technology is there, people all over the country should be able to read an obit for a deceased relative without subscribing to the paper.

Johnny. nypolarbear123 is right and that is problem in some of relatives of mine who lives far from Capital District that their latest local news. The people were sorrow their friends or relatives who want to sign guestbooks from their obituaries as far from Captial District. Now, Daily Gazette has to stop for as "Free charge" for their obits with sign guestbook and they did not realize to important who want to able sign it for their friends or relative. I see many online newspapers does provide free charge for obituaries up to 30 days to 6 months. Daily Gazette is one of few online newspaper does charge for obituaries. Is that fair? NO! Well, after 30 days to 6 months over the limit then Daily Gazette does put their newspaper into archives with online charge fee. That is acceptable. It is sad that they lost them.

All of our stories go into the Newsbank archives the same day they are published in print. If you're looking for a specific story or obituary, that kind of search should help you.
There's a button along the right side of our Web site, under Services, that will take you to the archives.

As Ive said, you've tried this before. and it didnt work.
To be the only local news paper to charge for news is one thing. But to be the worst at providing it and then charge is deplorable.
6 months from now when your hits drop to nothing again. You'll be free again...
Until the level of reporting rises to a level that quantifies paying for it its bad business to charge.

Judy,
Yes, I do understand that, but it is still charge fee for any obits archives for over limit of expired (30 days or up to 6 months depend on the publishers before archives into the www.Legacy.com). Recently, Daily Gazette changed obits into the E-editon mode which has obits that you have to pay fee on the E-edition mode as subscription news. Therefore, Daily Gazette is no longer "free" obits from non E-edition mode. You will not find obits button anymore at non E-edition mode unless you have to pay E-edition subscription news as well as obits section and download from Adobe Reader of electronic newspaper as up to 7 or 10 days before archives. That what obits is missing feature from the non E-edition mode news.
