Obama can lead the nation in the right direction

I’m a senior at Mohonasen Senior High School and I’m excited about the November presidential election. This is a crucial time in the history of the United States. It will have an impact for many generations to come. The election will impact how our children or even we, depending on what age we are, grow up for the next four to eight years. The election is very critical for a peaceful and prosperous future for our country and it is important to be well educated when entering the voting booth this November.

The presidential election should not be based on race, religious background or gender of the candidates. It should be based on what the candidate’s beliefs are and where he/she stands on critical issues we face. We need a president who can ask the people to make all the sacrifices needed to change the course of our country for the best.

We need a president who understands that the government isn’t always right. Also we need a president who understands that corporations, businesses and politicians don’t make up the whole country. We need a president who encourages us to think and dream to open doors of opportunity and to take action on what we think needs to be accomplished. Barack Obama is that candidate.

Barack Obama’s convictions are strong and that is what this country needs. On economic issues he believes that he can make more jobs available and provide the aid that is needed in these hard economic times. He believes that education must be strengthened because the people are a critical natural resource who will shape the future. Obama also has sponsored and co-sponsored many bills to help achieve energy independence. He believes that war will not make us a safer or stronger country and will do whatever it takes to get us out of Iraq. Barack shares the views of most Americans and he can help us achieve what we need and want.

Barack Obama said, “My job is not to represent Washington to you, but to represent you to Washington.” Obama will give us the chance that we need to be heard. We will be given the chance that we need to become an exemplary nation.

Communion should be for everyone, not just a chosen few

This letter is in response to the opinion of Donna Hart. I totally agree with Donna in regard to receiving Communion at a Catholic church.

We had a terrible experience recently when my husband and I went to his brother’s funeral at a Catholic church in Schenectady. When it came time during the funeral mass to receive Communion, the priest stated that if we were of the Catholic faith, to come forward and receive Communion; and if we were not, we should cross our arms like an “X,” which he showed us, and we could go up to the altar and he would “bless” us.

We were so angry that we did not even go up to the alter. My husband felt he could not receive Communion at his own brother’s service. How very sad that was. How dare the priest think that we were not worthy to receive our Lord’s body and blood. Read your Bible and see what the Lord said at his Last Supper. He certainly did not separate the Jews from the gentiles! Yes, we do worship the same god!

By the way, I did confront the priest and mention this to him and told him this is one reason we left the Catholic faith many years ago. I hope he shares this with the “powers that be.”

Eliminate the Federal Reserve, the root of our money crisis

Wake up, America. Now is the time for our nation to declare our financial independence from the central bankers. The American people have been financially enslaved ever since the Federal Reserve Act of 1913. Included in the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, was the start of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

The Fed is a cartel of private banks that create money out of nothing. The IRS is the tax collection agency that the Fed bankers use to financially enslave the American people with taxes for generations. The name “the Fed” is very deceiving because it is not federal, just like the Federal Express packaging company is not owned by the federal government.

Since 1913 our federal and state governments can only survive financially by borrowing money from the Federal Reserve bankers and then using the American taxpayers to pay the principal and the interest to the bankers’ collection agency — which is the IRS.

Now is the time for our federal government to declare its freedom from the Fed bankers. To hell with all the debts that our federal and state governments owe these Fed banks. Bankers are weaklings, these parasites have no power or strength. All they have is the news media, which is bought by them to scare Americans mindless with this bogus $700 billion extortion.

It’s time for our federal and state governments to cancel all debts and clean the slate. No more borrowing money from these bankers who create money and credit out of nothing. No more interest (usury) paid to the bankers. No more enslaving generations of Americans with taxes for the bankers. Let freedom ring.

In a time of crisis, experience is what America needs

Imagine yourself and your children in a room with only McCain and Obama. Terrorists just blew up three airports on Thanksgiving and you can only ask one to decide, alone, a fast strategy.

On 9/11 I remember pulling my children out of school and driving up on the Northway to get them as far north as possible. I was worried about what was going to happen next and where it would occur.

I also remember the horror of the beheadings by terrorists. They didn’t quickly “chop” the victims’ heads off. They first cut their tracheas, recording their suffering and thrashing for their families, then finished the rest of the neck and held up the head. Consider the true evil that is constantly obsessing against us.

Only one of the candidates has survived previously looking this evil square in the eye. Who are you going to ask to keep your family physically safe?

Obama’s economic plan favors the masses

As a business owner, I support the Obama/Biden ticket for a number of reasons. They have pledged to: 1) Cut or freeze taxes for 99 percent of small business owners, allowing them to put more money back into their companies, create jobs and jump start the economy;

2) Eliminate all capital gains taxes for anyone who starts or invests in a small business, thus spurring innovation and investment;

3) Cut taxes for 95 percent of middle-class families to grow our economy from the bottom up.

I urge my fellow small business owners to vote for Obama/Biden on Election Day.

Joseph ( no real name given ) says...

Joyce- On communion or whatever the Roman Catholic church says to you as far as beleifs,they err..so as to glorify man rather then God. They use God as to profit there self rightousness and make beleiving in God to be a burden to the people. Being a Baptist or should I say " Christian", if one has been " born again" as Christ said you must be,one can come eagerly to the lord supper and partake as love to what God did through the work of his son Jesus Christ.
Search the scriptures to test the spirits whether they be of Christ,I used to be a Roman Catholic until God opened my eyes to there falseness, now I am free to beleive in God the way his word states and have joy and peace in his word. God bless
