Two area school districts have been listed among the top 125 in the United States in music education.

The Guilderland Central School District and the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School District in western Fulton County were among 27 school districts in New York state named among the Best for Music Education in America by the North American Music Merchants Foundation. The list honors strong, comprehensive music education programs in kindergarten through grade 12, according to the New York State School Music Association.

Hundreds of teachers, school and district administrators, school board members, parents and community leaders, representing communities in all 50 states, participated in the Web-based survey. Districts were measured across a variety of criteria measuring support, curriculum and other programming.
