— A Saratoga Springs bank robber is expected to be sentenced to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted robbery.

Michael G. Suprenant, 50, pleaded guilty this morning to one count of first-degree attempted robbery in Saratoga County Court.

He was arrested last June after passing a note to a teller at the Saratoga National Bank demanding money and saying he had a gun, although he displayed no weapon.

Saratoga County District Attorney James Murphy said Suprenant left the bank with $12,850.

"No one was injured during the course of the robbery, nor is there any indication that Mr. Suprenant was acting with anyone else," Murphy said, “We were able to secure a conviction for a violent felony, without the necessity of the teller testifying at trial in front of the defendant.”

He said bank President Ray O’Connor said he was satisfied with the plea agreement.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 17.
