BALLSTON SPA A man who works for Homeland Security has been indicted on numerous sexual abuse counts and has been told not to leave the country, according to an assistant Saratoga County district attorney.
Jennifer Jensen said David Hayes, 38, of Rexford, was indicted last week on nearly three dozen counts of sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child for alleged conduct involving a single victim.
The indictment charges that the incidents occurred from the winter of 2002 through the fall of 2007.
Hayes is employed by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and often travels to areas where disasters have occurred.
He was arraigned before Saratoga County Court Judge Jerry Scarano and released on $30,000 bond.
“The judge told him he must be available for court appearances within 48 hours of notice,” Jensen said. “He was also told not to leave the country.
Hayes was arrested by state police investigators in Clifton Park.
In an unrelated case, a Milton man has been indicted on two counts of first-degree rape.
Jensen said Christopher Sleight, 25, of the Kayes Trailer Park, was charged with sexually assaulting a woman and is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday.
Also indicted by a Saratoga County grand jury last week were:
u Sean Rice, 24, of Clifton Park, on charges of third-degree burglary, attempted burglary, criminal trespass, petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property.
u Matthew Bradley, 33, an inmate at Mount McGregor Prison, was indicted on a charge of first-degree promoting prison contraband.
In other appearances before Scarano:
u Marvin Peary Jr., 32, of Saratoga Springs, was sentenced to nine months in the county jail after being found guilty of violating his probation on a previous conviction for criminal possession of marijuana.
u William Kreidler, 34, of Stillwater, was sentenced to 11⁄3 to 4 years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of felony driving while intoxicated.
u Joseph Hoyt, 20, of Ballston Spa, will be sentenced in July after he pleaded guilty to a charge of fourth-degree grand larceny.
u Mark Vroman, 25, of Halfmoon, will be sentenced in July after pleading guilty to a charge of first-degree criminal contempt.
u Gregory Campbell, 33, of Wilton, will be sentenced in September after pleading guilty to a charge of felony driving while intoxicated.
u Bryan Cuff, 44, of Greenwich, will be sentenced in July after pleading guilty to a charge of felony driving while intoxicated.
u Shannon Tracey, 24, of Saratoga Springs, will be sentenced in July after pleading guilty to a charge of third-degree burglary.
u Robert Green, 53, of Saratoga Springs, will be sentenced in July after pleading guilty to a charge of third-degree burglary.
u Jason Clear, 22, of Ballston Spa, will be sentenced in July after pleading guilty to charges of felony driving while intoxicated and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
