Tartans win, finish second

Scotia-Glenville defeated Hudson Falls, 6-1, Monday, but failed to gain a share of the Foothills Council title when South Glens Falls defeated Glens Falls, 11-1, to clinch to championship outright.

Jared Swider went 3-for-4 for the Tartans (11-3, 12-5).

South Glens Falls broke open a close game with seven runs in the top of the fourth inning, and improved to 12-2 in the Foothills and 12-5 overall.

Pat Murphy had a home run and a single as Queensbury (7-7, 9-9) rolled past Broadalbin-Perth, 14-1.

The Patriots fell to 2-12.

Niskayuna pulled off a game-ending triple play to beat Columbia, 6-1, in the Suburban Council.

With runners on first and second, shortstop John Moore caught a line drive, threw to Pete Furey at second, and he relayed it to Joe Priv­itera at first for the triple play.

Chris Okonski had a double and single for the Silver Warriors

(7-4, 12-4), and Dan Peters hit two singles.

Adam Herman and Matt June each had two hits as Colonie

(6-5, 12-6) defeated Saratoga Springs, 5-1.

Leejay Pollacchi had two hits for the Blue Streaks (2-9, 4-11).

Columbia fell to 8-3 in the SC.

Mohonasen scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh and held on for an 11-10 victory over Bethlehem.

Ben Gatchell hit a two-run

double to give the Mighty Warriors an 11-9 lead.

David Hondro had a triple and two RBI for Mohonasen (7-4, 9-5), and C.J. Fonda had a double.

Will DeRuve had two doubles, a single and three RBI for Bethlehem (8-3, 12-5), Matt Branigan hit a two-run homer, and Alex Sobiecki had two singles.

Shenendehowa (8-3) defeated Shaker (7-4), 15-1, as Dave Balsamo hit a double and two singles for the Plainsmen.

Tom McDonald had an RBI

double for the Blue Bison (7-4).

Jim Tino threw a three-hitter to lead Ballston Spa to a 5-0 win over Averill Park.

Chris Schaefer had a double and single for the Scotties.

Ivan Plata had three singles as Guilderland defeated Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, 6-2.

Pat Quinn had two singles for the Dutchmen (7-4, 11-8), and Andrew Simpson hit a two-run double.

Keaton Flint had two singles for the Spartans (1-10, 3-14).

Schenectady scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Amsterdam, 8-7, for its fourth victory in a row.

Ryan Zielinski had two doubles, a single and two RBI for the Pat­riots (5-5, 7-8), and Ryan Quinn had two singles and two RBI.

Brian Davey had a double and single for the Rugged Rams.

Christian Brothers Academy defeated Bishop Maginn, 6-2.

Josh Lewyckyj had a triple,

double and single for the Brothers (9-2, 10-3), and Chris Sand hit a double and single.

Davante Buie had two singles for the Golden Griffins (3-9, 5-12).

Mike Hughes had two triples and a single as Albany totaled 16 hits and beat Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons, 18-1.

J.T. Gorgan had two doubles for the Falcons, Justin Nowak had a double and single, and Curt Carman and Dominique Daniels had three singles each.

Matt Butrym doubled for the Golden Knights, and Mike Gal­lagher had two singles.

Schalmont scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk, 10-7, in the Colonial Council.

JP Sportman had a double, single and three RBI for the Sabres (10-3, 13-5), Kyle McKelvey had a double, single and two RBi and Tom Tierney had a double and single.

McKelvey set two school rec­ords, with 13 doubles this season and 27 for his career.

Rob Nolan had a triple and

double for Ravena, and Chris Snyder hit two singles.

Cohoes improved to 9-4 in the Colonial and 13-4 overall with an 8-5 victory over Cobleskill-Richmondville (1-13, 1-16).

Zach Ramsey had a triple and two singles for the Tigers, and Sean Littlejohn had a home run and single.

Spencer Lamountain hit a double and single for C-R.

Brian Marinao had a double, two singles and three RBI, and threw a three-hitter as Mechanicville defeated Lansingburgh, 9-2.

Mike Pepe had two doubles and a single for the Red Raiders (4-9, 4-12), Shaun Kawola had a two-run double and single and Josh Gagliastri hit two singles.

Jordan Zareski had two singles for Lansingburgh (8-6, 10-7).

Joe Berschwinger pitched a three-hitter to lead Voorheesville to a 7-0 victory over Albany Academy.

Jay Conde had a solo homer and a sacrifice fly for the Blackbirds (9-6, 12-8), and Ryan Gatt had two singles and two RBI.

Academy fell to 1-13 in the Colonial Council and 1-14 overall.

Wes Coppolo hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning to give Duanesburg a 4-2, lead, and the Eagles went on to beat Berne-Knox-Westerlo, 9-2, in the Western Athletic Conference.

Chris Hyrny added a three-run homer in the sixth for Duanesburg (12-3, 14-4).

Josh Skinner hit two doubles for the Bulldogs (5-11, 5-14).

Schenectady Christian gave up four runs in the top of the first inning but came back to beat Middleburgh, 13-5.

Ian Compton and George Amedore each had a double and single for the Falcons (10-5, 10-6), and Jon Kovel and Steve Garrasi each had two singles.

Galway defeated Canajoharie,

7-5, to drop Canajoharie to 11-4 in the WAC and 12-6 overall.

Fort Plain limited St. Johnsville to two hits and beat the Saints, 9-0.

Ryan Hudyncia had a single and a two-run single, Adam Cutspec hit a double and single and Tyler Barhydt had a double and two RBI for Fort Plain (12-1, 13-2).

Fonda-Fultonville piled up 15 hits and defeated Mayfield, 19-1.

Josh Nethaway and Kevin Hanson each had three singles for the Braves.

D.J. Hoagboon had a double and single for Mayfield (6-10, 6-12).

Kyle Seabury hit a one-out double in the bottom of the seventh, and he came home on a single by Jared Kirk to give Greenwich a 10-9 Wasaren League victory over Schuylerville.

Seabury also had two singles and three RBI for the Witches

(7-4, 12-6). Steve Brennan had a single, double and three RBI for Schuylerville (7-3).

In the Adirondack League, Corinth defeated North Warren, 16-5, as Shawn Delencey and Sean Elliott each had three singles for Corinth (7-4, 12-5).

North Warren fell to 5-5 in the league and 6-5 overall.
