About 1,000 National Grid customers in Saratoga County remain without power this afternoon as the result of severe thunderstorms the rolled across upstate New York on Tuesday night.
The storms knocked over trees, brought down power lines and damaged homes in an area stretching from the Rochester area to the Catskills and the Vermont border.
National Grid reported about 28,000 of its customers remain without power this afternoon, most of them in central and northern New York. In addition to the 1,000 customers in Saratoga County, about 130 customers in Fulton County remain without power, according to National Grid's Web site at www.nationalgridus.com.
The fast-moving storms are blamed for at least one death, a 47-year-old logger who was killed in Lewis County when he was hit by a falling tree blown down during high winds.
